Oh well. Not everyone's like that on eBay.

You should easy make your money back on it even with the poorly engine.

So how far away is it?
Is there a T- bar member based near by that might be able to help out in some way?
Does anyone here know of a good mechanic in that area who'd be able to give a sensible quote?

Sadly, I did fear the worst re. getting your money back. :(
Have you tried complaining to EBay? Probably a waste of time but you never know.

Have you asked on the owners club to see if anyone can help out.

We have a number of traders in the North West who may be able to help out

As I had to do some thing quickly ( it was parked in the sellers parking place & he was threatening to get it towed away]
I decided to scrap it as a repair was not an option.
Collected car this afternoon & just about made the scrappy 7 miles away, with steam coming out the expansion cap
Got a cheque for £100 & reminded him he said I could keep the wheels. No problem he said.
I expected him to put it on axle stands :yesnod:
Instead he got a big fork lift & put the forks straight through the windscreen& lifted by the roof :omg:
A very sad sight :(

Really upset some of them on the ZT forum on org, when I posted asking for advice & then related the saga.
One guy who lived abroad said why didn't you 'phone me? I would have paid you £400 & come & collected it
How? When? :bust:
Others made some nerdy comments but obviously had not digested my posts properly & really had no idea of the situation I was in.
Nice to be back here :P

Sorry to hear about your very stressful event, I have had some dealings with the KV6 engine and think you have made the right decision to scrap it if it's been overheated at some point.

The engine is very complex to work on and difficult to get to most of it. The all alloy engine is also a semi long bolt design with wet liners that are unsupported at the top very similar to the K series. Like the K series it's another engine that has a high failure rate of head gaskets.

The engine was originally designed for the 800 series Rovers to replace the Honda units (not sure why they stopped fitting Honda as they were bomb proof) and the first generation of KV6's had massive overheat issues resulting in a lot of new engines being fitted under warranty.

Obviously a lot of work went into rectifying some of the issues but I couldn't believe it when years later they started to fit them to the ZT's.

I hope you recover some more cash with the wheels and tyres.

Brian.
