I bidded over several nights out probably worked out a few hundred quid in the early years.

Now probably looking at the tens if not hundreds of thousands. I might do a part ex for a decent sports car though :)

Collected car & set off for the M6 & home.
Put £40 worth of fuel in & was enjoying the experience of driving a big V6 auto, but then after about 8 miles the dreaded temp. gauge shot into the red
Pulled in to a petrol station & found coolant discharging out of the expansion tank cap. :(
Called AA & after waiting over an hour they diagnosed water pump failure as he said the coolant wasn't circulating around the engine. Major job on this model, so got it towed back to the seller. No one at home, doubtless gone down the bank to deposit the loot.
Not having time to hang around, left car as seen with note requesting cheque for my cash ;)
Then had a long & expensive train journey home.
Will not be putting anymore silly bids on ebay again :yesnod:

I'd've kept it. £423 for an 03 with 9 months test on it ain't bad,

Factor in a couple of hundred for a pump and new belts and it's still a decent cheap car.

Fitted you are looking nearer to £500 fitted for a KV6.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

As the seller wasn't in when I dumped the car back I was in a bit of a cleft stick.
Leaving the car + docs, & key meant he had the cash + the car back
Had no choice really as I had a 5 hour train journey back home but hoped he was an upfront guy & I would get a cheque for my lolly.
Fat chance. Had a long ebay message basically telling me to p*ss off & I was the new owner & he was posting back the docs.& key. Basically said it was bought as seen on an auction site stating no returns.
Although it did say on the item description that a mechanic had looked it over & said no problems, it is not worth the expense & hassle of going down the legal route.
So I have 2 choices. Either get it repaired or scrap it.
Waiting for a cost of replacing w/pump from MG Rover mechanics but I know it's a pig of a job.
If I scrap it I will keep the the new wheels & tyres & sell them on.
To be continued.
