Hello fellow MGer's.

I have joined this community today on a hunt for information. I have manage to purchase a 2003 MGTF Automatic (Step Speed???) that has a blown head gasket and has been sat in it's garage for 3 years!!!

I have always liked the MGTF and like to have a project to tinker on with during the winter months.
Hopefully I will collect at the end of October once the owner has dug it out.

I would like to start a WIP topic once it arrives, if anybody can suggest which sub forum I should start it in? (Polite answers only please guys and gals :broon: )

so watch this space..........

Paul.

Hi Paul, welcome to the T-Bar, you're in the correct place to find good advice.

Sounds like you're not a newcomer to car 'projects'. If you don't mind me asking, what is your car history?

Look forward to reading your thread on the resurrection of the TF.

If you need any parts, give me a shout, I breaking a TF 160 at the moment.

Paul

I can search build history for you with registration and last six digits of VIN. Important note, you can't tow a Stepspeed car unless you lift the drive wheels (REAR) off the ground. I understand it buggers the box. :hgf:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes your right, I have done a few in the past. I mainly cut my teeth on Mini's, proper ones mind you, none of that german twoddle.
I have also done a restoration of a ford granny, a couple of rovers and the last one was a 1969 Austin Healey sprite.

I do maintainenece on the family car and things but have never had a project as young as this one. so I am hoping for a little more mechanical tinkering and slightly less welding.

Thanks for the offer of parts, however I won't get my grubby hands on it till late October. Still trying to think of a name. :-?
Maybe you have a suggestion? Not Tiff though, have seen that used before.

Thanks again for making me feel so welcome

Paul.

Thank you so much for the offer Bryan,

As soon as I have the VIN details I am sure to send you a PM.
Thank for the advice about towing with an auto box. I will make sure to use the trailer. :broon:
I am not too sure after 3 years how easy it will be to move anyway, I am hoping that the handbrake will be nice to me.

Thank you for such a warm welcome Bryan, you lot really are a nice bunch aren't you!
