Hi all!

Thought I'd join up and say hello as I am presently on the hunt for an MG TF and figured 'where better to start?'. Well... I say 'start', this weekend just passed I visited a few dealerships. One had an MG TF in terrible condition (:(), another dealer I subsequently found out had appalling reviews and the third dealer couldn't find the engine - oh I do love remembering his face when he opened the front to find a wheel! So here I am!

I Currently drive a Mazda RX8 which is all but dead after 3 fantastic years. I'm looking for a fun, sporty car that gives a responsive drive and I've always loved the MGF/TF.

I'm based in SW London so any suggestions for meet-ups, any locals selling a car, any recommendations for local dealers or garages - all appreciated! I'm no mechanic but given the right guides I don't mind to tinker and im very keen to learn and help others where I can.

Many thanks and hello to you all!

Carl.

Welcome to the T bar :broon:

Good luck with the hunt, there's loads around.

You also might like the FRL run in February down your way.

Not been on it myself but basically it's a hoon around the M25 at night with the roof down.

depends on what you want and if you are willing to pay the right price for a good genuine car, go to Church Square Autos at Shepperton, David Koskela, well known, good Fs and TFs good history but not cheap. there are plenty of old dogs out there.

Hi Guys, thanks for the warm welcome.

After my first two experiences viewing an MG TF from dealerships, as detailed in my first message, tomorrow i'm set to meet a private seller. 2002 MG TF 1.8 135 16v, Anthracite grey, 77k miles, lots of recent love/work (battery, cat, discs and pads, head gasket etc) and a genuine (sounding) seller. A few issues with ripped seat (common place) and broken clock (easy fix) but excited to see it.

So, hopefully with my next message i'll be able to update you on my new car. Looking forward to getting to know more about the TF and The T Bar and if I dont get to beep and wave at you soon then hopefully chatting on the forum will suffice! :)

Boom! 9 days in and loving it more each day. Time to make a few slight alterations to make my mark on her.
