Thanks. I've been having a good read through , really helpful. Got an issue with the gear box and the info has been really helpful...looks like a new cable will be required !

Hi Andy, when i tried to engage reverse yesterday the box went very loose and would not engage a gear. After looking at various exchanges on here i checked underneath and noticed the gaiter at the end of the cable was perished (photo attached ) will have a further look over the next couple of days. Luckily happened at home! I checked the clip but that appears to be in place still.

The perished rubber is easily sorted out for a few quid,

If the gear stick is floppy when in gear then it's likely a stretched cable.

I think there's a how to to sort this out.

The reverse gear is a bit of a pain to engage at the best of times anyway.

If you can't get gears have someone go through the gears whilst you have a look at the gearbox end and see if everything is moving.

If it's not then the cables snapped........ World of pain!!!!
